Nurse Knowledge and Education

Following the release of the Institute of Medicine report "The Future of Nursing: Leading Change, Advancing Health", the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, in collaboration with Center to Champion Nursing in America (CCNA) and the AARP Foundation, launched the The Future of Nursing: Campaign for Action. The Campaign aims to: strengthen nurse education and training; enable nurses to practice to the full extent of their education and training; advance interprofessional collaboration to ensure coordinated and improved patient care; expand leadership ranks to ensure that nurses have a voice on management teams, in boardrooms and during policy debates; and improve health care workforce data collection to better assess and project workforce requirements. These goals seek to broaden not only the knowledge base of all nurses, but also give nurses the tools to utilize their education and knowledge in a more meaningful way.
